The Honda Amaze has surpassed the sales of the City in December 2016, which was the best-seller for a long time. 3,322 units of the compact sedan were sold as compared to the 2,898 mid-sized sedans.

However, if we look at the overall sales of Honda last month there is nothing spectacular that can be pointed out. The domestic sales declined by 18.64 per cent as only 10,071 vehicles were sold in December 2016 as against 12,379 cars that were sold in the corresponding month in 2015. Honda's overall sales in the domestic market stand at 1,56,107 units.

The other vehicles from Honda's line-up continued their performance with steady sales. 443 units of Brio, 1,601 units of the Jazz and 151 units of the Mobilio were sold last month. Besides, the carmaker also sold 1,601 units of the BR-V and 55 units of the CRV. Exports stood at 448 units during December 2016.

Yoichiro Ueno, President and CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, “After a severe impact of demonetisation in Nov’16, the Dec’16 sales continued to be challenging. We expect the New Year to gradually bring back normalcy in the market. During 2016, HCIL sold a total of 1,56,107 units in domestic market and we are thankful to our customers to have continued faith in the Honda brand.”
