Honda Amaze facelift spied inside out before launch on March 3

Honda is preparing to launch the Amaze facelift for the Indian market on March 3. The latest spy shots completely reveal the revised compact sedan that is yet to be officially unveiled by the manufacturer.

The images that seem to have been taken at a stockyard reveal all the changes on the refreshed model of the Amaze. The fascia sports a new bumper and a revised chrome slat grille. The headlamp shape is the same, but gets black inserts. The side profile remains the same with the car riding on same set of alloy wheels and wheel caps. Honda has now equipped the car with restyled tail lamps with no other changes at the back.

This 2016 iteration of the Amaze get changes in the cabin of the car as well. The interior is from the new Mobilio introduced for the Indonesian market. The Amaze seen in the pictures is the S variant so gets a basic integrated audio system, however, the top-of-the-line trim will get the touch screen system paired with a reverse camera and parking sensors. The layput of the dashboard has changed with rectanglar air-con vents and now there is also automatic climate control, which the current model misses out on.

The engine options are going to be the same with the 1,198cc i-VTEC petrol and 1,498cc i-DTEC diesel engine. The 1.2-litre four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol mill produces 86.7bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 109Nm of torque at 4,500rpm, while the 1.5-litre four-cylinder i-DTEC diesel engine churns out 99bhp of power at 3,600rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm. The transmission options include the five-speed manual gearbox, with the availability of the five-speed automatic gearbox for the petrol trim as well.

The Amaze was the first model for Honda to come equipped with a diesel engine and has received an overwhelming response in India. However, with the competition upping the ante, the sales of the Amaze dipped over the course. Nevertheless, this new version is expected to bring in the much needed updates and should bring back the Amaze to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Figo Aspire, Hyundai Xcent and the Tata Zest.
