Honda Activa 125 was showcased at the last month's Auto Expo event held in Delhi. The scooter mesmerized quite a large number of curious onlookers at he event. As per a recent update, the Honda Activa 125 is expected to be launched in the country sometime in April 2014, although no official announcement has been made regarding the same. The scooter is expected to be launched in four interesting shades like - Midnight Blue, Black, Pearl White and Sword Silver.
The current lot of automatic scooters from Honda have a maximum engine capacity of 110 cc. The upcoming scooter shall be the first from the Activa line to be powered by a 125 cc engine. The scooter is expected to be powered by 124.9cc engine that generates about 8.6 bhp of power with 10.2 Nm of torque. The upcoming automatic scooter is placed in straight line of competition with the likes of Suzuki Access, Mahindra Rodeo and TVS Jupiter, all from the 125 cc segment of automatic scooters.
The recently introduced HET – Honda Efficient technology has been claimed to be successful on Activa 110 and Activa-i. As per sources, the new 125 cc Activa may feature force air-cooled and single-pot engine, complimented with variator-controlled automatic transmission technology. Talking more about the HET innovation, sources said, this technology uses low friction parts in the engine and has also used better air filters. This helps in reducing the overall engine friction, thereby delivering around 60 kmpl, as seen from the existing 110 cc Activa and Activa-i variant.
The scooter shall get a full metal body with a sharp design and the instrument cluster gets an all digital panel. The well designed structure ensures a comfortable ride over long distances. Moreover, superior level of comfort has been attained owing to new features like telescoping front suspension, 5-Spoke alloy wheels with 12 inch rear wheel and 10 inch front wheel. For safety the Activa 125 shall get an optional disc brake for the front wheel. Pricing and detailed specifications have not been revealed for now and may be revealed at a later date. Unconfirmed sources have stated that the upcoming Activa 125 from Honda may be priced close to Rs. 55,000.
