A lot of customers are simply driven towards vehicles that have a high resale value in the automotive market. This means that buyers want to use the car and in contemplation of a change, like to go for the resale. Notably, as it reflects, cars that are high on affordability and resale value are more preferred by customers. Industry experts are of a view that the segment that can promise of good returns in such scenarios is definitely hatchback. So, customers are more inclined to buy cars belonging to the hatchback segment. Sedans also have a share in the same but as compared to hatchbacks, the success rate is on a lower end. This means that individuals are mainly left with the hatchback segment for considering the cars with best resale value.

Now, there many popular hatchback car models that are available in the Indian market. Notably, customers go for hatchbacks due to its high affordability. Hatchbacks are quite compact and offer a decent performance in local conditions. The power and torque generation of engines prove to be adequate for cosy city drives. Still more, being highly compact, such cars generally offer a high fuel economy to go with. This when combined with a high resale value becomes a driving force for customers who wish to purchase new as well as used cars.

Like aforementioned, there are many cars in the hatchback segment that prevail in India, but few of them are more preferred by customers considering the high resale value. A list of such car models will accommodate likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Santro, Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Hyundai i10 and Hyundai i20. The list shows that, currently, there are two names that thrive in the automotive market, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. Both auto majors are known to produce high quality vehicles to appeal the mass market and this reflects on their product lines. Notably, many customers prefer to go for either of the two brands eyeing the popularity, affordability, top-end specification chart and high resale value.

Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the best sellers in the hatchback segment. The performance of this vehicle in the domestic market has been exceptionally good. Notably, among cars with best resale value, the vehicle surpasses expectations of customers. Interestingly, the performance of diesel variants is invariably on the higher end as compared to petrol versions. An interesting fact about the resale of Maruti Suzuki Swift diesel is that the variant was sold at a price of Rs. 5.5 lakh in the year 2009. Evidently, the resale price is quite lucrative for Swift lovers. Indeed, a brand new Swift offers a true value for money and when it comes to reselling, the hatchback is an asset at a given point of time with least depreciation in its face value.

Hyundai Santro also proves to be a good buy for customers when it comes to resale price. Even though, Santro is an old car, its sale numbers are pretty decent. A three year old Santro has a high demand in the second hand car market and consequently, its resale price is on a higher side. The latest trend shows that a used model of Santro will cost somewhere between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh. WagorR is yet another top seller for Maruti Suzuki that also promises a lucrative resale price. In fact, in the year 2002, there were many customers who were willing to buy a used WagonR despite a kilometre run of over 100,000 km.
