Over the top presentation and launches are things one expects from Hero MotoCorp, putting into consideration their big shot status in the Indian market but recently it sprung a surprise on everyone by launching the Passion Pro TR motorcycle in the country. Notably, Hero had pulled curtains off this rather rugged version of Passion during the 13th Auto Expo, which was held in February this year in Greater Noida. Analysts have expressed their surprise at how Hero MotoCorp added this product to their portfolio on the firm’s website without any formal announcement or launch event.

Based on the Passion Pro, a highly successful Hero MotoCorp model, the Passion Pro TR is a rather rugged and off-road version of the former with several upgrades in terms of appearance and features. Main upgrades done in the Passion Pro TR include more solid handlebars that have a cross brace, on-off road tyres and knuckle guards. In addition to these, the presence of a higher front fender (with tyre hugger) and a bash plate to protect the engine makes this bike a sturdier model than the model it is based on.

It is being said that Hero MotoCorp has kept in mind needs of people living rural and semi-urban areas while designing the Passion Pro TR. Its ruggedness and solidity makes it just suitable for the working class in small towns that look for a bike, which can travel on under par roads with several bumps. Customers purchasing this model will have only three colours to choose from, namely electric blue, dual tone shade of black with sports red and sports red. The basic design of this bike, however, remains the same with small additions of body graphics and black alloy wheels.

The technical specifications of Passion Pro TR have not received any upgrades and remain same as the model it is based on. It will be powered by an air cooled four-stroke single cylinder engine that has a capacity of 97.2 cc. This engine has the capability of producing an output of around 7.8 PS at 7500 RPM and a torque of just over 8 Nm. Other common features present in Passion Pro TR include telescopic shock absorbers (front), 5-step swingarm adjustable shocks (rear) and disc brake (front)-drum brake (rear) combination.

Hero Passion Pro TR has a weight of 119 kgs and boasts of a fuel tank with a capacity of 12.8 litres. At present, the price of this bike has not been officially introduced but it is being said that Passion Pro TR would cost a tad higher than Passion Pro with a price in the region of Rs. 52500 (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
