Country's biggest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp has just showcased its first diesel fuel type 150 cc motorcycle at an event in Delhi. As per sources, the two-wheeler has been rechristned as 'RNT'. Pawan Munjal, Managing director and CEO of Hero Motocorp, said, “As we go ahead, we would like to add accessories, variants to the model. It will have usage in various countries besides India due to the kind of features it has. The hybrid scooter will have a range of around 340 km on one single charge and a full tank”.

With the constant rise in petrol prices, a diesel version is definately welcomed by the masses who were considering an alternative fuel type. Sales report suggest that the Indian bikemaker currently generates about 6 million sales annually, with the new launches planned ahead for this year, the company intends on raising the bar to reach around 10 million units. The company also intends on generating considerable revenue through overseas markets. Speaking more about the RNT, Munjal stated, “This is indicative of the ongoing work. The RNT looks different, not like a scooter or motorcycle. It comes with an electric drive at front for off-road conditions, much like 4X4 SUVs. The diesel power can also be used to drive generators or threshers in remote places. All bikes and scooters, except the RNT, will be launched commercially in the next fiscal. Leap, the first electric serial hybrid scooter from India, will first be launched in Western Europe. This is because the volumes for such a product are higher in that market”.

The RNT is a concept model for now and the company has not revealed the exact date as to when the production version may go live. The seat board looks broader and the footrest also seems to be spacious. Sources have also stated that Hero MotoCorp had showcased some other models too which may hit the roads early next year. Post split from Honda sometime ago, Munjal had stated, “Ahead lies a very promising destiny. We want to become a global brand, which we cannot without a full range. A year ago I had promised a new range of technologically superior two-wheelers, we needed some time to go back to the drawing board”. The lines said now holds true with this fresh update from this beloved Indian bikemaker Hero MotoCorp.
