Hero Motocorp's Splendor has been ruling the roost in the commuter bike segment ever since it was launched in the country more than two decades ago. Recently, Hero MotoCorp had introduced two fresh variants namely – Splendor iSmart and new Super Splendor. The company has reportedly earned overwhelming response for these bike since its launch. Anil Dua, senior VP for Marketing & Sales, Hero MotoCorp said, “We have received a phenomenal response from customers in a very short span of time since the launch of the bike. We are, therefore, doubling the production of Splendor iSmart to 20,000 units from the current level of 10,000 units per month. Going by the trend, this is likely to go up still further as in coming months.”

Apart from these popular models the company may increase the production numbers for other Splendor variants - 100cc Splendor Pro, Splendor NXG and Splendor+ as well. The numbers are expected to increase from June. The New Splendor iSmart has been launched in the local market at an attractive price tag of Rs. 47,250 (Ex-showroom Delhi). The Splendor iSmart is powered by 100cc air-cooled single cylinder four-stroke engine that generates a peak power of about 7.8PS at 7,500rpm with a maximum torque output of 8.04 Nm at 4,500rpm. Technologically the bike is blessed with stop-and-start i3S technology that holds unique ability to shut down the engine when idling to prevent wastage of fuel. The engine springs back to life when the clutch is pressed. The technology is one of a kind and the Indian bike-maker intends on getting a patent right for the same. The new technology is expected to deliver impressive mileage and attain efficiency figures that have never been seen before.
