      Hero HX250R motorcycle launch in second half 2015

      Hero MotoCorp is aiming to launch several new motorcycles and scooters in the country this year. The company is gearing up to enter the growing 250cc entry level sports bike segment. The homegrown 2-wheeler maker will launch the new HX250R 250cc motorcycle in the country in the second half of 2015. Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, the HX250R looks appealing and is manufactured in-house with the help of EBR. The bike is expected to be priced under Rs. 2 lakh.

      The Hero HX250R motorcycle is propelled by a 249cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve engine with liquid-cooling and fuel-injection. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 31bhp at 9000rpm and a peak torque of 26Nm. This engine is clubbed to a six-speed transmission which transmits power to roads. Its exhaust pipe is placed under the seat. This bike will hit a top speed of over 160kmph, while 0-100kmph is expected to be covered in less than 8 seconds.

      The suspension mechanism consists of telescopic forks at the front and a 5-step adjustable monoshock with shim valve damping at the rear. Its braking system comprises of three-piston caliper with 300mm disc and 200mm disc brakes at front and rear, respectively. The braking system works with a combined braking system and optional ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System). Dimensionally, the bike is 2085mm long, 735mm wide and 1145mm high, and has a large 17-inch alloy wheels. The ground clearance is 145mm, while the wheelbase stands at 1370mm.
