The Haryana government seems to have come-up in full support of the management of car maker Maruti Suzuki, amidst a series of labor strikes at the car maker’s Manesar plant. The Haryana Labor Department on Tuesday slapped a legal notice on the striking workers, blaming ‘breach of settlement’. The workers will now have to respond within 48 hours to this notice.

It is to be mentioned here that the 33 day long strike came to an end at Maruti’s Manesar plant on October1st, with striking workers signing agreement with Management, in the presence of Haryana Government. However, just a few days after the settlement, the workers again went on a strike demanding the reinstatement of 1000 casual workers. The company on the other hand, has been maintaining that it will gradually absorb in the contractual workers once the production increases.

In a statement given to the PTI on Tuesday, a senior official Haryana Labor department said, "A notice has been issued to workers yesterday for breaching the terms of settlement, which was signed with the management in the presence of officials of state labor department."

While the production at the firm`s Manesar plant is at a complete halt, even the Gurgaon plant witnessed a rapid decrease in the production. On Tuesday, the production at Gurgaon plant of the firm stood at mere 1000 units as compared to production of 2,800 units on normal days.
