According to a source related to Harley Davidson, the iconic bike maker is gearing up to launch its Fat Bob cruiser in India by the end of 2012. It is a part of the manufacturer's Dyna range and bears twin pod headlamps at the front, setting itself apart from its siblings. It will be brought to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) by Harley Davidson.

Fat Bob is a huge bike, with a 130 section front tyre and 320 kg of bulk. It is equipped with a flat handlebar, due to which its riding stance becomes reminiscent of a dragster. However, this stance will also be suitable for the cruiser as its twin cam 45 degree V-Twin engine produces tremendous amount of torque.

The 1690 cc fuel injected engine produces 136 Nm of maximum torque at 3500 rpm, quite low for such high torque generation capacity. The vibration levels in the bike are controlled by a balancer shaft fitted in the V-Twin motor. The six speed transmission system provides the requisite torque the rear wheel using a belt drive.

With this motorcycle, Harley Davidson will be able to give stiff competition to bikes like Triumph Storm and Rocket III, which will hit the Indian roads in the second half of 2012. Fat Bob had been showcased at the company's stall at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo in January.
