The Buddh International Circuit’s magnificent racing track invited an opportunity for India to host a World Championship for the first time. The organizers of GT1 World Championship have conferred upon India to host the season finale of the 2012 GT1 World Championship after the enthralling hosting of the inaugural Grand Prix in the month of October 2011.
The 2012 season calendar released at the end of last year did not consist of the dates and venues, which now has confirmed the date and venue of the finale scheduled on 2nd December, 2012 at Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
One of the toughest contenders of the GT1 series, Mr. Stephane Ratel is keen on racing in India on the season’s finale and has said, "India completes the 2012 calendar in every way. It fulfils our ambition to continue to break new ground in global markets, taking world-class GT racing to new and exciting locations." He further added, "To secure events in the three capital cities of the three fastest-growing markets for luxury cars is a major step forward."
The auto leaders commonly participating in the GT1 World Championship are Aston Martin, Maserati, Ford, Chevrolet, Lamborghini and Nissan with cars mainly produced for FIA GT1. The 2012 GT1 World Championship, joining big players like Audi, BMW, Mercedes and McLaren is Italian sports car maker, Ferrari.
