The latest version of popular video game Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series, titled Grand Theft Auto V, will take stealing to an entirely new level, when it launches on September 17 this year. Major heists will be executed by players, similar to those seen in films like 'Heat' and Ocean's Eleven'. The new version of this game will be the largest and most ambitious one in the series, till date.

As per a recent advanced demo of GTA V, main characters Michael, Franklin and Trevor are expected to perform a heist similar to the one seen in the movie 'Heat'. For preparation, a garbage truck is stolen to block the road and a tow truck used to smash the prey, which is an armoured car. Players also get to participate in the planning process, akin to the performances of actors George Clooney and Brad Pitt in 'Ocean's Eleven'. Speaking about the game, Imran Sarwar from GTA V development studio Rockstar North in Edinburgh, Scotland, said, “We give the players choice on how they will do the heists and (make) them put in the legwork and prep, as well as choosing a suitable crew. He further added, “What we want to do now is give the players choices, to really feel like they're planning the heist and preparing for it, and then to have that pay off in a big, satisfying mission shaped by their decisions.”

For the first time, players will get a chance to control all the three characters, which means that they would not be sitting idle at any point in time. Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies said, “The player might switch to Michael as he's shopping with his wife, or to Trevor as he's being chased by the cops, or Franklin as he's chilling in front of the TV. The player might then take Franklin out to rescue Michael from the shops and go for a drink, or help Trevor deal with the cops.”

Developed by Rockstar Games, the game will be set in the city of Los Santos and neighbouring areas. Grand Theft Auto III had elevated the company to new heights, in the past. Further, different aspects of the criminal element have been chosen as themes, such as Miami Drug wars in the 2004 GTA: Vice City to immigrant problems in the 2008 GTA IV. Reportedly, more than 125 million versions of the GTA series have been sold over the years, the most popular one being the GTA IV.
