      GM unveils Chevrolet Captiva Plans to Captivate Roads by End 2008

      GM is ready to launch its new SUV in India. Success stories of Innova and other SUV has made the car companies to sit up and take notice of the growing SUV market in India. The 15-20 lakh price band segment in India has grown over the past years. Thus, after Aveo and Spark, General Motors is eyeing this segment as a promising one.

      General Motors plans to launch Chevrolet Captiva by end 2008 in the Indian market. It would be available in 2400 cc petrol as well as 2000 cc diesel engines making it the only SUV in the segment to offer two differently fuelled engines.

      Chevrolet Captiva would be the brand name of the new model with a seating capacity of 5-7 people. The designs and exteriors are quite stylish and contemporary that has charmed the world since a long time. It carries its looks from the S3X model. Although, it is a tad bigger than Hyundai Tucson and Honda CRV, nevertheless, it promises tough competition to other brands in this segment.

      The diesel version promises to excite the Indian market. If the company plans to import the car, it would cost around Rs 24 lakh, however, if it plans to bring the complete Knock-Down Kits and assemble it locally, the price is expected to come down to Rs 12-15 lakh.
