General Motors India Pvt. Ltd., the country’s fifth largest automobile manufacturer launched its Chevrolet Sail U-VA car in Jammu on Monday, November 19, 2012. Talking to reporters at the launch, Vice President, Planning Program Management and New Business Development, General Motors India, Sastry Vempati said, "We have launched the Sail U-VA hatchback inJammu today and it is built on a new global small passenger car platform created especially for fast-growing emerging markets, including India"
He further said that their engineers at the GM Technical Centre-India in Bangalore worked for nearly two years in order to adapt the platform for India so that it could meet the requirement of the Indian market and cater to the need of the Indian car buyers. "The much-anticipated Chevrolet Sail U-VA hatchback is an important addition to GM's small car portfolio in India," Vempati said.He further added, “It brings a new sense of vitality to the largest, fastest-growing and most competitive segment in the domestic passenger car market."
The all new Sail U-VA comes with Chevrolet’s sporty styling with the front facia having Chevrolet’s signature design cues, which includes a dual port grille decorated with a gold bowtie. Vempati added that the Sail U-VA is available in seven exterior colours, namely- Super Red, Caviar Black, Summit White, Linen Beige, Sandrift Grey, Switchblade Silver and Misty Lake.
