Just a few days after marking the launch of the much awaited new Chevrolet Captiva, General Motors India is endeavouring to sweep away the inventories held in respect of the outgoing version of the SUV. At the juncture where the auto sector is showcasing a slump response, the automaker aims to avoid over accumulation of stocks in presence of the next generation model of Captiva.

In a bid to make way for the facelifted Chevrolet Captiva, the company is initiating discount schemes to lure the SUV enthusiasts in favour of the earlier version of the Captiva. The discounts to be offered will fall in the range of Rs. 2 lakh approximately and will be tagged at an attractive price of Rs. 17.66 lakh steeply falling from the original price of Rs. 19.26 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).

The upgraded Captiva made an appearance at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo followed by launch plans in the first quarter of this year. However, owing to the adversely responding economy conditions and the stock accumulation of the earlier version of Captiva, General Motors was compelled to delay the launch of the newer version.

It has been confirmed by the company that around 140 units of the pre-upgraded Chevrolet Captiva is lying unsold at the inventory, most of which comprises of manual transmission LT variant.

As per the company, Chevrolet Captiva has been well rooted in the Indian auto market positioning itself as one of the biggest contenders in the premium SUV segment. The new Captiva has been embodied with refined styling, powerful diesel engine performance, spacious interiors and cutting-edge on road performance, all of which aptly matches with the preferences of a discerning buyer.
