      Global Wholesales of Tata Motors Group Lowers by 6% in July 2011

      India's largest automobile company, Tata Motors Group recently reported a dip in the global wholesales, including Jaguar Land Rover. According to the reports, Tata Motors registered the global wholesale of around 85,392 in July 2011, which is 6% lower that the corresponding period in 2010. In July 2010, the company reported a growth of 36% over July 2009 with global wholesales of around 90,646. 

      On the other hand, company has reported a 4% surge in the cumulative sales for the fiscal (April 2011 to July 2011). The cumulative sales of this year are around 350,565, which were only 339,824, in the corresponding period in 2010 to2011. With around 5.9 million Tata vehicles plying on the Indian roads, Tata Motors has earned a consolidated revenues of Rs.1,23,133 crore in 2010 to 2011.

      As per the reports, the global sales of all the commercial vehicles of Tata Motors, including Tata, Tata Daewoo and the Tata Hispano Carrocera range, in July 2011 are 47,238. In comparison to the corresponding period in 2010, when sales of all commercial vehicles were 40,576, this year Tata Motors has registered a growth of 16%.

      In terms commercial vehicles of Tata Motors, the cumulative sales for this fiscal are 177,402, which was 151,730 in the corresponding period in 2010. According to the data provided by the company, it is evident that cumulative sales of commercial vehicles for this fiscal have grown by around 17%.

      Tata Motors has operation in the UK, South Korea, Thailand as well as Spain, and its vehicles are marketed in countries across Europe, Africa, South America, the Middle East and South and South East Asia. In spite of such a strong global presence, the global sales of all passenger vehicles were registered to be just 38,154, in July 2011. Compared to the global sales of passenger vehicles in July 2010, the sales this year have dropped by around 24%.

      Further, unlike 2010, the cumulative sales of passenger vehicles for this fiscal reported a dip of over 7%. In this fiscal year the cumulative sales of passenger vehicles were only 173,163, whereas in the corresponding year last year, the cumulative sales were 188,094. Tata Motors has an industrial joint venture with Fiat in India, which enabled the company gain an access to Fiat’s diesel engine technology.

      However, unlike last year, global sales of Tata passenger vehicles along with the distribution off Fiat cars in India have registered a dip of 38%. In July 2010, company reported the global sales as 30,684, which have dipped to 19,035 in July 2011. This lowering in the sales has also resulted in the dip of cumulative sales for the fiscal by 16%.

      Jaguar Land Rover, which is now owned by Tata Motors, reported global sales of 19,119 vehicles in July 2011, which were 19,386 vehicles in July 2010. In July 2011, by showing the sales of 4,372, Jaguar registered dip in month sales by 23%. On the other hand, Land Rover reported a hike of 8% by registering the sales as 14,747. Together Jaguar Land Rover reported the cumulative sales this fiscal year as 81,209, which are 6% higher than the sales in corresponding period in 2010.
