      German Auto Parts Maker Bosch Eyes Indian Market

      German auto component maker, Bosch plans to make its foray in the Indian car market. It recently showcased its automotive technologies at Auto Expo in Delhi this year. It shall be investing Rs. 850 crores in India to set up its manufacturing facilities in the country.

      Bosch recently showcase some of its best technology works at the Auto Expo including fuel system, brakes and body. It shall also work on the safety measures of the car but already has innovative technology for latest audio systems, starter, generators, etc. Bosch has already developed the special low prices CRDi fuel system for world’s cheapest car, Tata Nano.

      According to the Bosch’s head of corporate communications, Sanjay Chakravarty, the company shall soon be entering the non-auto spares market in India including packaging technology, security systems, special purpose machines and tooling.  It aims to expand its product portfolio considerably in India. The main aim for the company to invest in non-auto spares is that it foresees strong investment in infrastructure, construction and retail in future.

      "We plan to increase revenue of our non-automotive component from the present 10 per cent to 15 per cent," he said.

      “Safety” is yet anther dimension where the company seeks to expand in the country. Nearly 4.7 million Indian vehicle would experience advance braking system by Bosch that would be implemented by the year 2010. The company is also working on new technologies for small and compact cars which is the new emerging market in India.
