The premium sedan world will get a new competitor in the form of the Arteon sedan. It will be unveiled for the European market and is expected to go on sale later this year. It is expected to take up the slot left by the exit of the Phaeton sedan a few years ago.
The company has released a few teasers for the car but we know that this is quite similar to the China spec Phideon sedan. It is expected to get the same quiet yet luxurious interiors but many added features as well as driver aids and a large safety pack. We believe that this car will be offered with a host of petrol and hybrid engines in Europe and the Americas while markets in Asia are likely to also get the option of one diesel engine. The arrival of this car is a bit strange as the segment where it will come in is now full of SUVs and crossovers making this a unique offering in the market.
Will it come to India? Seems unlikely right now as it would seem more viable to bring an SUV in the same price range due to demand as well as high costs of both CKD or offering the car as a CBU.
