General Motors had earlier announced that it will introduce at least six new cars in next two years. Amongst few of the most awaited launches is the 800cc Chevrolet Spark that will be launched early next year. General Motors President Karl Slym has confirmed that GM India will bring a smaller Spark with 800cc engine to India in next 24 months.
General Motors already sells Chevrolet Spark with 800cc engine in South Africa and it is its entry level model in the country. It is sold as Chevrolet Spark Lite with a 3-cylinder engine producing 51 bhp. The current model of Chevrolet Spark is powered by one litre engine but the new model will compete with M800 which has already been phsed out from major cities of India and is gradually fading from Indian market.
General Motors is also planning to introduce diesel variant of Chevrolet Beat which had failed to generate expected numbers due to absence of a diesel variant. GM India will also introduce LPG variant of Chevy Beat next year. Apart from that, GM plans to launch the new Tavera, a multi utility vehicle, as also showcase its all-electric vehicle in April next year.
