General motors is all set to end the long wait of its facelift Chevrolet Spark hatchback, with its launch likely to be made this week. According to media reports, the facelifted Spark will hit the roads on October 25th and will feature a host of changes on the exterior as well as interiors. The most significant changes will be visible on its front and rear bumpers while some change to the fog lamps is also expected.

Just like its existing sibling, the all new Spark facelift will also feature a 1 litre, 4 cylinder petrol engine capable of churning out a maximum power of 63 bhp and a peak torque of 90 Nm.

The launch of facelifted Chevrolet Spark this festive season comes along with Maruti Alto 800, Tata Manza Club Class and Honda Brio Automatic. Spark is expected to be priced slightly higher than the new best seller from the stables of Maruti, the Alto 800 and will compete against the likes of it.

Maruti Alto 800 clearly became a hit with its booking of more than 10,000 even before the launch. It comes powered by 0.8 litre 796 cc, 3 cylinder petrol powertrain which can deliver a maximum power of 47 bhp at 6,000 rpm.

The big factor that will decide the fate of Chevrolet Spark in its race against Alto 800 will be the mileage that it delivers. Alto 800 boasts of an excellent mileage with its petrol variant offering 22.74 kmpl, while the CNG variant offering 30.46 km/kg. Its mileage along with certain other features has acted as the USP for the vehicle.

Though the figures about facelift Spark are not out yet, it is likely that it will offer a mileage of around 20 kmpl. It would be interesting to see if Chevrolet Spark facelift in the new look and a host of comfort features manages to attract Alto 800's trusted customer or not. However, with a large number of car makers in the country coming up with their own new model, the road ahead for the all new Chevrolet spark looks bumpy.
