General Motors India Private Limited (GMIPL), the country's fifth largest passenger car maker, seems set to launch its Chevrolet Enjoy Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) in the domestic car market, somewhere in the first quarter of 2013. The developments regarding Enjoy MPV are being closely followed by local car enthusiasts, who seek to invest in options other than Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo or Nissan Evalia. The Chevy Enjoy is expected to carry an introductory price around Rs. 6 to 7 lakhs in the country, upon its launch next year.

The utility vehicle market has witnessed a great response from domestic car enthusiasts this year. Utility vehicles like Renault Duster, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra XUV500 and Quanto have been major successes in the Indian automobile industry during the ongoing 2012 calendar. Hence, it is quite the perfect time for upcoming Chevrolet Enjoy MPV to see Indian daylight, as the company is desperately looking for a game changer in the country.

Speaking of MPV's under-the-hood specifications, the yet-to-be launched Chevrolet Enjoy is expected to come fitted with a 1.4 litre, 1,399 cc, petrol engine, which will produce a peak power output of 90 bhp and a maximum torque delivery of 127 Nm. The engine assembly is anticipated to come mated to a 5 speed manual transmission system. Interestingly, GMIPL is believed to introduce the Chevy Enjoy MPV in a diesel guise as well, which could feature a 1.3 litre Multijet diesel motor sourced from the Italian auto major Fiat.

At present, the Indian MPV segment witnesses some intense competition between the likes of segment leaders- Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova. The Enjoy is expected to come trimmed with a number of interior and exterior refinements like Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) system, dual front airbags engine immobiliser and central locking amongst others. Fireworks are expected when the stylish MPV hits Indian streets next year and confronts Ertiga, Innova, Xylo and Evalia.
