Gurgaon-based Indian rally ace, Gaurav Gill, won the Malaysian round of the 2016 FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship leading the pack by over a whopping 31 minutes. With this win, Gill has also sealed the championship for the 2016 APRC season after winning the first five rallies and with one rally to spare.
Gaurav Gill, driving a rally prepared Skoda Fabia for Team MRF, has dominated the 2016 season of APRC entering the Malaysian Rally with a healthy 42 point lead over his closest competitor Fabian Kreim. Also, his teammate, Kreim retired after gearbox issues helping Gaurav Gill extend his points lead to an unsurmountable 58 points with one rally to go.
The last round of the APRC will be held in Chikmagalur, Karnataka, India where Gaurav Gill will be crowned as the 2016 APRC champion. Thanks to Gaurav Gill and teammate Fabian Kreim’s exploits, MRF clinched the overall team championship while Skoda claimed the manufacturer’s title.
