On a few occasions in the recent past, renderings had revealed what the new MINI Electric Concept might look like. This time around, Mini has revealed the Electric Concept in flesh at the ongoing Frankfurt Motor Show. Although the Electric Concept is based on the standard three-door model, it gets the distinctive E badge, along with hexagonal radiator grille and circular headlights.
The Mini Electric Concept is powered by a lithium-ion battery. However since it is in the initial stage of development, the power specs, range and efficiency specs are yet to be disclosed. The Mini Electric Concept will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Oxford and will go on sale in 2019. The manufacturer states that apart from getting the dynamic character of a standard Mini, the electric version will be quick off the mark as it gets a precision-tuned suspension system.
The Mini Electric Concept unveiled at the event also featured a striking yellow accent bar on the grille – with an E badge in the same colour – giving a powerful contrasting effect, which is echoed by the styling of the daytime running lights in the all-LED headlight assemblies. With electric cars now becoming the future of automobiles, the parent company, BMW, has revealed that it plans to launch around 25 electric cars by 2025.
