A four-door test mule of the Mercedes-AMG GT was spotted doing the laps at Nürburgring. The sedan is speculated to be dubbed as the GT4 and is expected to offer a perfect blend of performance and luxury.

The test mule wears a heavy camouflage. However, the headlamp assembly peeks out and exhibits the full-LED projector unit. The side profile shows the sedan’s proportions and the large wheel arches which house the five spoke alloy wheels. Behind the alloys lie the yellow painted brake callipers mounted to grab hold the beefy brake rotors. The sporty sedan gets a sleek full LED tail lamp unit and a diffuser with quad exhaust tips.

The engine is expected to be aided by a hybrid powertrain inspired by Mercedes-AMG Formula One cars. The battery pack of the GT4 will charge itself via regenerating braking and if the charge drops lower than required, the engine will assist the process of charging. The total output with the electric motor and the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 combined will be 805bhp and all the power is expected to be delivered to the wheels by Mercedes’s ‘4matic’ all-wheel drive system. AMG calls the hybrid tech the EQ Power+ which is also borrowed from their F1 cars and the branding will apply to all the performance hybrids made by the manufacturer.

The equipment and the tech that the Mercedes-AMG GT4 packs make it a strong contender in the segment. The competitors to the GT4 are the Porsche Panamera S Hybrid and the Aston Martin Rapid S. However, its closest rival still lags behind by 200bhp.
