Come 2020 and certain versions of the Ford Mustang may no longer be pure muscle car derivatives. We say this following Ford’s announcement on electrifying its existing models in the next five years.
Interestingly, this line-up will also include a hybrid version of the Mustang in the US. Besides it, Ford will also introduce hybrid versions of the F150 pick-up, the Transit Custom van in Europe and a fully electric SUV for global markets.
The upcoming range will include an all-new fully electric small SUV which will arrive by 2020 in North America, Europe and Asia. Coming back to the Mustang, a hybrid version of the popular sports car is expected to deliver V8 power and even more low-end torque.
The Mustang Hybrid will be built at the Flat Rock plant and debut in 2020. It will be available in North American markets initially.
