Ford Motors, the US based leading auto maker, is gearing-up to launch a series of new cars in India in near future. The company is keen to boost its market share in the rapidly growing markets like Indian and China. According to Ford executive Joe Hinrichs, the company is eyeing to roll-out more cars in the segment smaller than company’s subcompact Fiesta in the region.

Mr. Hinrichs added that Ford, if it wants to grow and be competitive in China, needs to have a product portfolio that plays where the volume is. "It's all about scale. And it's all about having a cost base that's competitive in the market you are serving," he said.

In China, the company plans to take its product offerings to 15 models from current count of 6 models, by year 2015. At present, the small-car segment accounts for more than 70 percent of sales in the Chinese market.

In India, the company will take the total number of its dealerships to 340, by year 2016. At present, the company has more than 100 dealers in the country.
