Ford also plans to launch eight new vehicles in India in the next five years or so, in an attempt to quickly expand its presence in the rapidly growing market. "We have big plans for India and for this region," said Joe Hinrichs, president of Ford Asia Pacific and Africa. "This is part of our 'better plan' to bring more and more vehicles from our vast global portfolio to India and other markets in Asia Pacific and Africa." The company eyes are on these new markets as it predicts that 70% of the global growth will be from Asia and Africa over the next decade.

Ford India launched the Ford Figo subcompact in the first quarter this year, selling more than 30,000 units in 25 weeks.
