Ford Motor Company, the well established American multinational auto major, is going to launch its acclaimed EcoSport compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in the auto market of Nepal by end of March 2013.
The news brings delight to Indian compact SUV enthusiasts, as they have been waiting for Ford EcoSport's launch in the country for quite some time now. Accordingly, there's a great possibility of the American auto maker introducing its cherished product in Indian auto market somewhere around beginning of next 2013-14 financial year.
Ford has planned to introduce the EcoSport compact SUV in just petrol guise on Nepal turf. The little beast will incorporate the esteemed 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder, Ford EcoBoost power-mill, capable of churning out an astounding peak power output of 119 bhp along with a maximum torque delivery of 170 Nm. Further, the EcoSport drivetrain will come assimilated with either a five speed manual transmission gearbox along with an option of a six speed Powershift dual clutch automatic transmission system.
Coming to the safety and security features, the Ford EcoSport comes equipped with dual airbags, burglar alarm system, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Hill Launch Assist. The stylish compact SUV also comes fitted with the much fawned upon traction control and the cutting edge Electronic Stability Program (ESP).
At present, the compact SUV segment is one of the hottest in the Indian auto market. The segment has witnessed two breakthrough models this year, comprising the likes of Renault Duster and Mahindra Quanto. There is hardly any doubt that the upcoming Ford EcoSport will pose some stiff competition in the compact SUV market, upon its entry in the country. Top industry experts are anticipating Ford to launch its EcoSport with an introductory price tag close to Rs. 10 lacs in the Indian passenger car market.
