      Ford's SYNC AppLink technology to reach India soon

      Not only enthusiasts, officials from the company are upbeat about the introduction of this system in India. David Huang, who is Senior Manager at Ford Asia Pacific's Technology and Business Development, was present at a recent event, where he spoke about this development. “We are excited about bringing SYNC AppLink to India and will offer industry-exclusive voice control technology for smart phone apps thereby providing drivers the convenience to access content and information while on-the-go. SYNC AppLink is an exciting addition to Ford’s class leading connectivity technology and goes further in personalizing the in-car experience,” he said.

      Adding further, he said, “Our participation at Mobile Developer Summit in Bangalore highlights that we are a developer-focused company. We understand that a vibrant app ecosystem is essential to the success of a platform for both users and developers. At Ford, we’re constantly looking to partner with developers aimed to research and reshape the role of the automobile to add value for our customers.”

      Notably, these words were spoken at the Mobile Developer Summit being held in Bangalore, one of the largest technology hubs in India. Also, Ford was the only auto maker that was present at this event. This automatically meant that the Ford was able to have an uninterrupted discussion regarding its development with fraternity of mobile application designer. Experts feel that Ford will be able to make full use of this opportunity to get things its own way for the SYNC AppLink technology.

      Vinay Piparsania, Executive Director for Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford India, spoke about the firm's plans for SYNC AppLink system. “India today has more than 65 million smart phone users who want to stay connected wherever they are. Keeping them in mind, Ford has been driving consumer focused innovation in automotive technology. The journey, which started with the introduction of Bluetooth connectivity in Ford Figo, has gone on to introduce the first in segment Voice Control in the Global Fiesta and the world class SYNC technology in Ford EcoSport. With every step, we have allowed seamless connectivity, entertainment and convenience and are excited to take it forward with SYNC AppLink keeping our customers in mind,” he said.

      Ford, according to reports, has an elaborate plan for the development of applications for SYNC LinkApp. Reports suggest that the firm is going to collaborate with certain designers and developers, who will create applications exclusively for Ford cars. Any and all information regarding the programming interface for the technology will be present on http://developer.ford.com. There will also be a provision on the website for discussing and evaluating any issues or new ideas regarding applications. All developments from thereon will be taken up by the company and after testing, scrutinising and utility tests, applications would be approved.
