Ford has managed to register a year-on-year growth of 18.9 per cent in domestic sales with 8,418 units sold in the month of July. The export grew by 65.54 per cent when the American car maker exported 17,657 vehicles compared to 10,666 units in July of last year.

The combined sales meanwhile grew by 46.96 per cent and the carmaker sold 26,075 vehicles in July in both domestic sales and exports as compared to 17,742 vehicles in the corresponding month last year. This is the highest run of domestic sales for the Blue Oval in the last three months. In the previous month (June) the domestic sales dipped at an all-time low since January 2017 with only 6,149 takers, owing to the GST implementation. The export was, however, unaffected in June and grew further still in July by 20 per cent. The cumulative sales surged by 25 per cent in July as compared to June 2017.

Anurag Mehrotra, president & managing director, Ford India, commenting on the July sales, said, “Despite the administrative challenges associated with the introduction of GST, Ford has continued to grow faster than the industry. While the short term headwinds associated with GST and rising input costs remain, we believe a good monsoon, favourable financing rates and rise in consumer confidence will provide a good impetus for the industry.”
