      Ford registers 3% sales dip in February 2012

      For the month of February, Ford India, a completely owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, recorded a downfall of 2.82 per cent in its overall sales that amounts to 10,424 units. As far the senior officials of the company, Ford sold around 10,726 vehicles in the same period last year. The domestic sales of the company also sloped by 13.54 per cent, amounting to 8,035 units in February as compared to 9,293 units during the same period last year. However, the overseas shipments of Ford expanded by 66.71 per cent in February 2012 that  amounts to 2,389 units, as compared to 1,433 units during the same period last year.

      Michael Boneham, President and Managing Director, Ford India, said, "We have embarked on an exciting growth path in 2012 as evident with our 10,000 plus sales for the second month in a row and addition of 45 dealerships across India in February."

      However, the company recently launched a new car in the sedan segment of the Indian auto industry, Ford Fiesta PowerShift’. The car was introduced in the Indian market on 28th February 2012. This new Fiesta is equipped with a special automatic transmission system, and with its launch, the company hopes to attain a better position in the market.
