Gujarat has been a hub for car manufacturers. Many companies try setting up their units here, and now is the time for the American manufacturer, Ford. The auto maker has set up its second plant in India, the first being in Chennai. The plant is all set to start production, and the trial production has already begun.

This new plant setup at Sanand in Gujarat enjoys the stature of being one of the most advanced plants in the country. Production of a whole lot of variants has been proposed due to the flexibility in the production line kept in this plant. It is assumed that production will start from early 2015 here, which would lead to easy fulfilment of the ever increasing demand of Ford cars in India.

The first car to walk out of this plant would be the next generation Ford Figo. This plant is termed to increase the production capacity of Ford by 2-fold due to the large number of automated machines installed here. Ford has invested quite a large amount in setting up of this plant, and is aiming at recovering the expenses as soon as possible. It is being estimated that it took $1 billion in proper setting of this facility.

Ford has set its hopes high for the upcoming year with the new variants rolling out soon after New Year. The next generation Ford Figo hatchback and compact sedan will be some of the first cars that will be seen rolling on the streets in 2015.
