The iconic Ford Mustang GT gets another makeover, which might as well lead to enhancing the popularity of this model a notch further. Ford unveiled 600+ ponies King Cobra Package at the 2014 edition of the SEMA show. The ‘King Cobra’ tag is back after a long gap and will be available for the 2015 Ford Mustang GT. Definitely, the King Cobra package is a boost to the new variant. In fact, the Ford Mustang GT was provided with the earlier version of the King Cobra package and it was capable of conquering a quarter-mile in a sharp 10.97 seconds.
Jamie Allison, the Director of Ford Racing, was all excited about the recent development. He said, At Ford Racing, we like to push cars to their absolute limit. This is something we have been doing for 113 years and why we were so excited to get our hands on the all-new, 2015 Mustang. We wanted Mustang enthusiasts to be able to open up the Ford Racing parts catalogue and get one of everything and see what they could get. We think the King Cobra package is it. But none of this great work would be possible if Team Mustang had not built the best production Mustang yet.” Ford also said in an official statement that these changes might well be adopted by Mustang customers to the pony cars. The extensive catalogue of Ford Racing will allow them to have this luxury.
The most exciting aspect of the 2015 Cobra package is its inclusions. It has the Handling Pack, the Drag Pack and the Super Pack, which is basically a supercharger kit. The entire thing has been developed and designed by ROUSH Performance and Ford Racing. When this new turbocharged kit is installed, the Mustang GT is capable of producing more than 600 horsepower. The supercharger is equipped with high-flow fuel injectors, six-rib belt drive system, performance calibration system and air-to-liquid intercooler system among loads of other stuff. The drag package comprises a rear sub-frame kit together mated with pre-installed high-performance boosters for more power output at a higher acceleration. Apart from this, the package also includes heavy duty shafts, so that the machine is capable to hit the power generation process smoothly. The handling package makes the vehicle an inch lower. The King Cobra package is all set to up the glam quotient of the Mustang GT by a fair margin. Well, the wait is not quite much, as 2015 I just round the corner.
