The Indian unit of the US based leading car maker Ford Motors has said that the company will stick to the current strategy despite the ongoing low sales momentum. The company will carry forward with their plan of building as many as 7 new facilities in the Asia-Pacific and Africa region, which includes a new manufacturing plant in India’s Gujarat state.
The company is looking forward to get over 70 percent of their revenue growth from these regions by year 2020.
Moreover, out of 50 new products planned to be produced from these new factories, about 8 will be launched in the Indian market. Most of these cars will be in the small car segment.
The company’s much popular EcoSport model, which will be rolled-out in the Indian market in the coming month, will be produced only in India. From where the company plans to dispatch it to a number of overseas markets.The current India portfolio of the company includes compact hatchback Figo, mid-size sedans Fiesta and Ikno and luxury sports utility vehicle Endeavour.
