Ford India registers 188% growth in sales during Feb 2011

The Indian unit of US based leading car maker Ford Motors, which has been performing good in the Indian market since last one year, has registered a massive 188 per cent jump in its sales in the country in February 2011, as announced by a company official on Tuesday. The whopping sales growth of the company was mainly driven by its volume driving hatchback Ford Figo. The company managed to sell about 9,293 vehicles during this month as compared to 3,223 units sold in the same month last year.

Since its launch in the country, the company has sold over 76,000 units of Figo in the Indian market, so far. Commenting on the company’s performance, Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India, said, "The phenomenal Figo has taken Ford to a new level in India."

He also added that the company is gearing up to launch the new generation version of the Ford Fiesta in coming month. It is to be mentioned here that the new Ford Fiesta will be the first of the those eight Ford models that are slated to be launched in the Indian market in next 4 -5 years.
