The Indian arm of American auto maker Ford Motors has reported a 16.1 per cent surge in its cumulative sales for the month ending August 31, 2012 with figures standing at 10,352 units. According to an official statement, the company said that in corresponding period last year it managed to deliver 8,916 units in the country. On the other hand, domestic sales of the auto major in August 2012 stood at 7,840 units, marking an increase of 6.2 per cent under the review of sales recorded in same tenure of last year.

Considering exports of the auto major, the figures marked a massive increase of 63 per cent with deliveries of 2,512 units in August 2012 against the 1,534 units sold in August last year.

Expressing his views on the decent sales performance, the Managing Director and President of Ford India, Michael Boneham quoted, “It's wonderful to see consumer sentiment improving as we approach the festive season, and we are confident we are ready to meet the growing demand for cars during this period.”

Irrespective of the fact that the conditions of Indian auto market were quite challenging, complemented by the ever increasing fuel prices, interest rates and inflation, the auto maker continued working on its 'One Ford' strategy and offered safe, fuel efficient and value for money vehicles in the Indian industry. Ford Motor's attempt of ignoring the unwanted market situations and rather working on its goal, enabled the auto maker to register an impressive surge in the August 2012 sales.
