      Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla and VW Jetta - The top three selling cars in the world

      The list of top ten cars across the world is out; LMC Automotive has released a list of top ten selling cars in the year 2013. Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Jetta captured top three spots on the list with 1.1 million units, 1,001, 141 units and 906,000 units sold respectively in the year 2013. Focus and Corolla retained their positions for the second consecutive year; in 2012 also both the cars were among top two selling cars in the world.

      On the third spot is Volkswagen Jetta with 906,000 units sold last year, at fourth and fifth spots are Jetta’s rivals, Hyundai Elantra and Chevrolet Cruze. Hyundai Elantra registered a sales mark of 866,000 units across the globe while Cruze contributed 729,000 units towards global sales of Chevrolet. Interestingly, all three sedans, Jetta, Elantra and Cruze compete with each other in the D segment of the domestic market.

      Camry, yet another premium sedan from Toyota which is particularly famous in the US market acquired 6th position on the list. Camry found 728,230 homes across the world, the premium sedan is said to be undergoing a mild make over, however official announcements are yet to be made on the same. Following Camry is Volkswagen Golf with 720,440 units sold in 2013. Ford’s Fiesta grabbed eight spot with 705,287 units sold last year, the sedan’s facelifted version is on brink of launching in India.

      Honda also managed to get a spot among the top ten cars, its premium and upmarket SUV, Honda CR-V is at number 9 with 697,955 units. Honda CR-V is garnering luke-warm sales in India, its high price and low fuel efficiency are being cited as ,main reasons ‘;for sharp drop in the sales momentum. A diesel version priced competitively could help rev up monthly sales, rumours of the diesel version are also doing the rounds.Volkswagen’s Polo is at number 10 with 686,00 units, it is also a popular car in India. Out of the top ten selling cars across the world India has eight cars available for sale.
