Ford India, one of the fastest growing car makers in the Indian market, announced to hike the price of its of its popular compact hatchback – Ford Figo – by one percent. The new prices are applicable from this month. The company has blamed the rising input material cost for this hike. The latest price hike has taken the price range of the Ford Figo model between Rs 3.59 lakh and Rs 5.48 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Speaking to the reporters in the National Capital, Ford India President and Managing Director Michael Boneham said, "There has been a continuous cost pressure on our products as input costs are growing. We did a small price increase of one per cent on Figo at the beginning of this month." He added that the impact of the continuously increasing commodity prices is there and the company is assessing similar steps on other models as well.

Ford Figo is currently one of the most popular compact hatchback models in the Indian market and the company has already sold more than 70,000 units of this car in the country.

The major car makers in the country including the likes of Tata, Maruti and GM have already increased the price of their cars in the Indian market.
