Ford has proudly arrived in India. The recent sales figures of its small car model Ford Figo reveal the success story of the company in India. Ford sold its 50,000th model this week, and in the last six months, Figo has been continuously in the ten best selling cars in India.

Instead of launching a special edition model of the car, it auctioned the 50,000th model especially designed by artist ‘Rob’. The model was sold for Rs. 20 lakh and the money will be donated to neighbouring schools in Chengalpet to develop infrastructure for children and their education.

Ford India has reported a more than two fold jump in its October sales at 9,026 units on the back of good response for the Figo. According to a company statement, the sales stood at 3,458 units in the same month last year. “It is a proud moment for us to have recorded our second highest-ever monthly domestic sales this year,” said Michael Boneham, Ford India President and MD. "Next year onwards we are planning to cover 48 countries. Initially we will export it to North African market, South America, Mexico and in the Emirates region,” he stated further.

Ford Figo has already been launched in South Africa and is amongst the Top 10 best selling models in the country. Ford India has already committed to export 2000 units and will increase the figure to 7000 units next year.
