The new Dragon 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine is likely to be offered with the Figo and Aspire in the future. The American automaker, today, unveiled the new engine and has said that it will open the innings with the new EcoSport.
This engine produces an additional 10bhp of power and 10Nm of torque as compared to the current four-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol engine. It will replace the four-cylinder unit in all models, starting with the new EcoSport that will be launched in India later this year. This engine has been designed to work with manual and automatic transmissions that the automaker offers in India.
This means it will also find its way into the Figo hatchback and Aspire compact sedan as both the vehicles use this engine for their petrol automatic versions which make use of six-speed dual clutch AT units.
Ford's future plan to plonk this engine into the Aspire and Figo will make them most powerful petrol automatic vehicles in both their individual classes.
