India could witness the launch of facelift version of Ford Fiesta by next year. The model that will be launched in the Indian car market is reported to share the same platform with its European sibling. Ford Fiesta's current generation model was introduced in the Indian auto market in 2011 and since then it has received a lukewarm response, which could have added to the reason for launching its facelift version. The car will get significant updates in its style and design at the front fascia. The new re-designed front grille of the car resembles more to a high end model with its chrome slats.

In addition, a sportier new bumper that holds restyled fog lights gives a comparatively modish look as compared with the current generation model of Fiesta. The new design of bonnet has been given with edgy creases, alongside the revamped set of head lights, which almost stretch out to the back of bonnet. On the sides, the car boasts of same look as seen in current generation Fiesta with minor changes made to the A and B pillar. At its rear end, the new tail lights are more elongated and are of better quality against the one provided in existing model.

As far as engine performance of the upcoming model is concerned, it is likely to retain the same drivetrain as provided in the current line-up of Fiesta. All this means is the facelift version of Fiesta shall be seen powered by the 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is capable of producing a maximum power of 107 bhp while attaining 140 Nm of torque. Apart from it, the upcoming model will be seen in a diesel variant having the same old 1.5-litre engine that gives away 89 bhp of power and 204 Nm of torque. The petrol variant is all likely to come in an option of either five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission system, while the diesel model shall be equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox.

However, the critical factor in charting the course of upcoming generation of Fiesta shall be its pricing strategy and it is learnt that Ford India is planning to introduce facelift Fiesta at an aggressive price of around Rs. 7 lakh. With Ford aiming to launch new Fiesta in mid-size segment, the possibility of the car facing a stiff competition is likely to occur owing to the models like Honda City and Hyundai Verna, which have well established themselves over the years. In India, Fiesta has not lived up to the expectations of the company and despite a steep price cut, sales of the vehicle has never picked up. As of now, the move by Ford to introduce a new version of Fiesta at a competitive price range and revamped exteriors will help the company to put on a better show as compared to its rivals like Hyundai, Honda, Volkswagen and Skoda.
