Ford India, the domestic arm of well appreciated American auto maker, seems to be in full swing as its recently introduced compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) EcoSport has generated a great buzz in the country. Success of the model can be judged from the fact that within just 17 days of its launch in the country, it has received an advanced bookings of more than 30,000 units. Industry experts are of a view that the reason cited for brilliant sales figures of the recently introduced EcoSport is its aggressive pricing.

Expressing his views on this achievement, the President and Managing Director of Ford India,Joginder Singh was quoted as saying, “We had high expectations of the Ford EcoSport and the unabated response post the launch has been truly gratifying. Consumers are appreciating the value-for-money proposition that we are offering in the EcoSport’s compelling and smart package. We thank our customers for their overwhelming response and appreciate their patience. The Ford India team is working closely with the suppliers at our Chennai facility to enhance output of the Ecosport to reduce the waiting period and to meet the high demand.”

Interestingly, the model has been offered with an attractive price tag of Rs. 5.59 lakh, which probably made it a hit among the price sensitive Indian buyers. Ford India has introduced three engine options with its EcoSport SUV, in order to cater the demands of a large section of society. Much fawned upon 1 litre EcoBoost petrol, 1.5 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engine options are the different engine options of Ford EcoSport. It must be noted that as expected, the diesel engine of EcoSport lured a large number of buyers out of the total proportion. However, the EcoBoost engine also played a significant role in attracting the domestic buyers.

He later added, “We are happy to see consumers spending time in our showrooms, wanting to know more about our vehicles and acknowledging the value proposition we have been always offering on our other nameplates also – Ford Figo, Ford Classic, Ford Fiesta and the Ford Endeavour.”

Speaking on the pricing of the EcoSport, a number of Indian auto analysts believe that the model has been priced so well that it happens to be a better value for money model than a hatchback or a sedan. However, a thing to note here is that the auto maker has recently announced a recall for the diesel model of EcoSport in the Indian market. The reason cited for the call back was to relocate the glow plug module for which the American auto maker has been reaching out to all its customers who purchased the diesel EcoSport.
