As the festive season is fast approaching, major car makers are lining up to launch their new products in the Indian car market, in order to increase their revenues. Regardless of any particular segment, new cars are marking their arrival in India every now and then. Recently the leading passenger car maker of India, Maruti Suzuki launched its Stingray hatchback after which its arch-rival, Hyundai followed the similar route by bringing in Grand i10 model in the country. Also to mention, Ford EcoSport took the compact SUV segment by storm and has even outpaced its rival Duster by a fair bit. Currently, the scenario is fast changing as Ford is facing difficulties in manufacturing its EcoSport model on such a large scale. Because of this, industry experts are saying that other car makers like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai will benefit largely owing to their recent new car launches.

It is being said that the delay caused in delivering EcoSport might divulge the potential buyers of Ford to other major car companies. As the consumers who are finding it very hard to wait for the delivery of Ford EcoSport, they might resort to buying vehicles manufactured by other companies and now with launch date of Nissan Terrano coming closer, things are further expected to get tougher for Ford. Commenting on the skewed supply, an official from Ford was quoted as saying "We are continuing to work with our suppliers to ramp up production of the EcoSport. Due to an extended waiting period on certain variants we had decided to stop bookings on those variants."

As reported, the sales graph of Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Suzuki Stingray has gone up in the recent months and the reason believed by industry experts for this has been the large waiting period of Ford EcoSport. Sources have also said that the same segment compact SUV, Renault Duster is gaining a lot from this as the demand for the model has increased significantly in the month of September. Now with Nissan Terrano all set to hit the Indian car market, the customer base will further reduce for Ford and the company needs to soon overcome the situation.

As per the data released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Ford EcoSport had amassed more than 50,000 bookings in 50 days and the company manufactures around 6,700-7,000 units in a month, which has lead to such a supply crisis for the auto maker. Adding to the injury, Ford recently announced that it would increase the prices of all its model by 1 per cent to 5 per cent, which also included Ford EcoSport. So with delivery issues already prevailing and now price rise, auto analysts believe that Ford needs to overhaul its current strategy for the Indian car market.
