Ford EcoSport has been one of the most popular models in the Indian market and as of now Vijayawada Police has started using it for their official purposes. The Trend variant, which has been placed second after Ambiente when it comes to the lower variants of this EcoSport has been asked for. The Andhra Pradesh government has ordered for 200 units of models if EcoSport as well as of the Innova. Rumours are also in that some of the Tata Sumo MUVs will also be seen in the fleet.
This is though, not the first time that a premium car is utilised for a police fleet. The Gujarat police have recently Harley-Davidson models for their official uses. Ford EcoSport is one of the best options for this purpose as it is not much expensive and also comes in the sub-4 metre category. Mahindra Quanto or Premier Rio can also offer good options as they offer a better value-for-money.
The model on offer is not the award winning 1.0 litre EcoBoost mill; however, the 3-cylinder engine is also quite commendable. With lesser CO2 emissions, this car is a great choice for official purposes. A diesel engine is also more practical for this purpose as it is quite small for a SUV.
