Ford has just revealed the engine specifications of the new GT that was showcased as a concept at the Detroit Motor Show two years ago.

Ford discloses power figures of the 2017 Ford GT

Ford is expected to use their strongest iteration of the EcoBoost motor for this application. The new GT will use a biturbo 3.5-litre V6 engine that produces 647bhp at 6,250rpm and a whopping 745Nm of torque. These figures look especially enticing when you factor the coupe weighs just 1,385kg!

Ford has stated that the new GT is their fastest production model due to the claimed top speed of 347kmph. The car maker also added that their new 2017 GT beats the lap times posted by cars like McLaren 675LT and Ferrari 458 Speciale at the Calabogie Motorsports track facility in Canada. Nevertheless, the carmaker has not exposed the time it takes to accelerate to 100kmph from standstill.

Ford intends to produce 250 of the new GTs per annum and it’s slated to roll off their Markham plant’s assembly line at Ontario, Canada. Pricing for the new GT is yet to be disclosed by the car maker.
