Ford India has yet again cut down the prices of the Classic sedan. This entry level sedan now costs Rs. 4.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This pricing will help the company to pitch it more aggressively in the highly competitive entry level sedan which is currently dominated by Honda Amaze and Maruti Swift Dzire. This could be the strategic move to improve the sales of Classic sedan. However, the manufacturer will launch the Figo sedan by year end which will replace the Classic in India.
Ford Classic is basically the old Fiesta and it is currently the oldest sedan available in the Indian market. The Classic sedan is available in both petrol & diesel guise. While the petrol version gets the 1.6L engine that produces 100bhp, the oil burner has 1.4L Duratorq engine that develops 67bhp. Both the engines are coupled to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox which sends the power to front wheels of the sedan.
Ford Classic sedan will compete against the likes of Fiat Linea Classic, Chevrolet Sail, Honda Amaze, Suzuki Swift Dzire and others in the entry level sedan segment.
