Force Motors to Introduce Premium SUV in the Indian Market

Force Motors, earlier known as Bajaj Tempo, is currently a major player in commercial vehicle market with products in tractors, light and heavy trucks and three-wheelers. The company is now planning to enter into passenger vehicle market with its premium SUV priced at Rs. 10-15 lakh.

Force Motors is planning to develop the vehicle on a completely new platform that will be fitted the new SUV with Daimler engine. “A substantial part of the vehicle has been developed in-house using indigenous expertise. We are targeting the final months of this (calendar) year or the early months of next year,” said Prasan Firodia, managing director, Force Motors.

SUV market is a fast growing car segment in India which is currently dominated by market leaders like Mahindra and Mahindra. Force Motors is new to passenger vehicle segment and in commercial segment it holds just around 0.15 percent market share. The company is better known in the passenger three-wheeler space, with products having its popularity in the interiors of the country.
