Force Motors will give minor tweaks to its off-roader Gurkha and will soon make the updated version available for sale at its dealerships. Deliveries for the vehicle started a while ago, however production of Gurkha was halted temporarily in order to make some tweaks suggested by customers.
Based on customers’ feedback few revisions will be done to the vehicle that includes improved on-road capability, ride quality and NVH levels. Other changes that are likely to be seen on the Gurkha off-roader is a revamped interior, new seats with improved under-thigh support, air-conditioning will be more effective and the auto maker will also add few comfort features in the vehicle.
Power will come from a BS-III compliant TD 2650 turbocharger powertrain capable of generating a top power output of 82 PS at 3200 RPM along with top torque of 230 Nm between 1800 to 2000 RPM.
The company plans to bring in the more powerful 2.2 litre FMTECH, BS IV compliant engine bestowed with VGT technology in future. This is same engine that currently does duty in Force One SUV. The direct injection mill is developed under the license from Daimler AG, Germany. Most likely the engine will be offered in two states of tune, however the more robust variant is expected to produce 120 PS of peak power and 320 Nm of top torque.
Both soft-top and hard top variants of the new new Gurkha will be made available at Force Motors’ personal vehicle, commercial and agricultural dealerships in the country. On the price front, we expect new Gurkha to be priced around Rs 6.5 lakh for the 2WD variant and 4WD variant is likely to be tagged around Rs 8.5 lakh.
