Forbes magazine once again included Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in its list of America's most reputable companies in 2012. Progressing from the 38th position that it held last year, Goodyear secured the 26th place in the seventh annual ranking of corporate reputation in the United States by Forbes. The company holds the highest rank in the automotive industry and is the solitary tyre-maker who made it to the list.

Conducted in Q1 of 2012, Reputation Institute's U.S. Reputation Pulse consumer survey results form the basis of this list. The total goodwill, reliability, appreciation and positive sentiments of over 10,000 consumers for 150 of the country's largest companies were taken into account in this survey.

Products/services, innovation, governance, workplace, citizenship, leadership and financial performance are the grounds on which Reputation Institute (RI) calculates the reputation of the company and generates scores. As per RI, in order to stimulate the consumer behaviour, the company's perception was more crucial than product perceptions in the 2012 survey. Workplace, governance, citizenship, financial performance and leadership are all part of enterprise perceptions, while products/services and innovation form the product perception.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Goodyear, Richard J. Kramer, said, "This recognition is particularly significant as it goes beyond the value consumers place on our brands and innovative products." He further added, "It reflects the public's perception of the goals and shared values articulated in The Goodyear Mission that guides our associates every day. The survey shows that consumers continue to recognize that the Goodyear brand stands for great citizenship in addition to great tires."
