BMW’s SUV line-up will be refreshed with introduction of two new SUVs by 2019. Apart from the facelifts of the current line-up, BMW will introduce two new SUVs – the X2 and X7.

The X3 which will be receive minor facelift and a new platform is expected to be the first to arrive next year. The X3 will come with a new design language which will eventually be seen across BMW’s SUV line-up. The platform used by the new X3 will be a rear-wheel drive flexible modular system which is lighter, stronger and will have more practical space. It will also host new features borrowed from the bigger BMW cars. The X3 rivals the Audi Q5 and Porsche Macan.

The new Sports Activity Coupe called the X2, was showcased at the 2016 Paris Motor show. The X2 will be positioned in between the X1 and the X3 and will be based on the same XKL platform that currently underpins the X1. The car is undergoing testing already and is expected to hit the market either by the end of next year or 2018.

The second generation BMW X4 is expected in 2018. It will share a new platform with the new X3. The Mercedes-Benz GLC rival is likely to retain its four-door coupe styling and engine options. The new X4 will carry the new headlamp design of the BMW family, and is expected to receive the M Performance treatment as well.

BMW X5, like the refreshed X3, will get tweaked exteriors and all-new features. The new X5 will be using the same architecture as the new 7 Series. The CLAR platform is good for both all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive cars. The X5 is expected to grow in size and be more practical than before. The iPerformance plug-in hybrid variant is also expected to follow.

Then there is the new full-size seven seater SUV from the Bavarian manufacturer – the X7. The X7 is going to carry the signature BMW family face, the X5-like silhouette and a three-cab profile highlighted by the long wheelbase. The biggest SUV in the line-up is also expected to get the iPerformance and the M Performance treatment later. The new X7 will rival the Mercedes-Benz GLS and the Audi Q7 and is expected to arrive in the global markets by early 2018 and we hope it comes to India right after its global launch, somewhere around mid-2018.
